Ang Aking Dalawang Centimos Sa Miss Universe 2016 (My Two Cents on the Miss Universe 2016)

From Wikipedia:
"My two cents" ("my 2¢") and its longer version "put my two cents in" is an American idiomatic expression,[1] taken from the original English idiom "to put in my two cents worth" or "my two-cents." It is used to preface the tentative statement of one’s opinion. By deprecating the opinion to follow—suggesting its value is only two cents, a very small amount—the user of the phrase hopes to lessen the impact of a possibly contentious statement, showing politeness and humility.

(Due to the current event in the Philippines this year regarding the issue of Miss Universe, I want to give or share "a Cent for my Thoughts.")

(First of all, I am not really a fan of competitions like this. I was only tracked it because it was such a big and important competition for our country. It's also because we became again the main host for the Miss Universe after a decade. It was such a big honor for our nation so that other countries and the whole world would see what the Philippines is capable of with a prestigious competition like this.)

(Like many who watched, I also felt the nervousness as the Top 13, 9 and 6 were called and were replaced with joy. Its because that among so many beautiful women in the Miss Universe, our country got in through Miss Maxine Medina. But after the preliminary question, Miss Medina was not able to enter the Top 3.)

Maraming pumasok sa aking isipan sa kanyang katanungan at kasagotan. Ang tanong sa kanya ay:

(There were many thoughts that came to my mind for the question and answer. The question for her was:)

("What is the most significant change you've seen in the world in the last 10 years?")

(And because I want to use my interpreter (no joking or mockery), this is my answer to the question if I were given the opportunity to answer it):

Sabi nga nila, "the only constant in this world is change". Maraming Salamat! Mabuhay ang bansang Pilipinas!

(The most significant change I have seen in the last 10 years of living is change itself. They say, "the only constant in this world is change". This might be because we are presently becoming connected and active participation of people in the Social media and internet. Like in the Philippines, the eyes of people of society has been opened for the need for change through the election of President Duterte and one of the force is the Social media here. Change is coming and Change is here. Thank you very much! Long Live the Philippines!).

(I know they were so many who were dismayed with the answer of Miss Medina, and maybe I was one of those also. But I read and listened again to the answer and I got her point. She might not have said it right due to pressure or nervousness.)

(How about you try to speak for just a few seconds to think over the answer, the first one to draw out to first answer and not be rattled? If you were nervous just by sitting and watching, how much more Miss Medina that millions of Filipino and people from other countries are watching and listening to her at that time?)

Ang sagot nya ay ito:

(This is her answer):

"In the last ten years of being here in the world is that i saw all the people bringing in one event like this in miss universe and it's something big to us that we are one as one nation we are all together thank you"

Ang kanyang punto:

(Her Point):

(In the last 10 years she was living, the event for her that was most significant is the Miss Universe and the opportunity of Phillipines to become the host after 10 years. And this is very big for us together as a country.)

(She might not have communicated it, this is what she wanted to communicate. That in the last 10 years, the most significant change is our opportunity to become the main host of Miss Universe because we could do it again even though we belong with countries known as a 3rd world country. Despite our reputation for violence and poverty, we are capable as a country for this prestigious competition).

(Her point was beautiful. Sometimes its really hard to say what is on your mind. It is possible it was on the mind of Miss Medina, but she had the difficulty to communicate it due to nervousness and pressure).

(If I may be given an opportunity to talk to Miss Maxine Medina, this is what I will say to her):

(You impressed me. The truth is I am not a fan of this competitions like this. But you impressed me in this occasion. It is because of the honor you brought to the country of Philippines. I may not know what you were feeling at that time when you were in the stage, you impressed me with your beauty. Don't listen to what others are saying about who you are. Listen to those people who truly are close to you. Those who knows your HEART.)

PUSO. Ikaw ay "beautiful with a HEART" ng isang tunay na Pilipino. Sabi pa nga sa 1 Pedro 3:3-4,

(HEART. That is what I say in you that impressed me. It was really right that you represented the Philippines in Miss Universe no matter what they say. You are "Beautiful with a HEART" of a true Filipino. It is also said in 1 Peter3: 3-4):

("Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.")

(I saw that in you in the competition. It is not enough for beauty to be based only in the outside. Your beauty was outstanding from the other candidates for you have ''beauty that comes from within").

Kakaiba. May potential na maging Miss Universe.

(And because of that I am proud of being a Filipino for representing us and carrying the honor that is belittled by others which is being included in the Top 6. If you think about it you were chosen in the Top 6 other that the other candidates that in comparison are much better than you in speaking in English. It is because the judges saw something in you that is not found in the others. Unique. You have the potential to become Miss Universe).

(I may not know if you could read this, I am praying that you won't get carried away with what they are saying. And that last question for the Top 3? You won;t just answer it, you can also live it out! You might have failed, you learned all the same).

(I am saying thank you, if it was forgotten by our other citizen to do to you. Thank you. Because you are carrying now the failure of the kompetisyon that if you think about it is for the honor of the country. I am just one of those in a sea of faces that you will never know but you stood in front of many people to honor US FILIPINOS).

PUSO!

(Thank you for your pain and labor. For what you have sacrificed for the country of Philippines. I know you will rise up after this. Because you are a Filipina! Storms and earthquake may pass us, it is one of our capability to rise again and again with smiles on our lips and HEART that is ready to fight again. HEART!)

At para naman sa ating mga kababayan:

(And as for my fellow country men):

(Now I know now why foreigners really like to visit here in the Philippines for it might be the delicious "sea food". Like CRABS!)

(We should learn to cook our "CRAB MENTALITY". We should have proven to the whole world our capability for patriotism despite failure in this time as a Filipino).

(We strongly judge others and comment that are not helpful. If you don't have something good to say, just don't say it. The most significant change we can see in the Philippines in the last 10 years is our change as a country).

(And that last question, we can answer that through this: we might fail, we will learn and it is by helping other rise in their failure).

(Thank you for reading "a cent (or 1 peso already) thoughts).
God bless Pilipinas!

To God Be the Glory- My Testimonial During the Youth Reload last Friday- May 13, 2011 was a night filled with music, dance, laughter and even tears for the One and Only Star in our Lives- God. BCC was once again filled with so many young people, there are lots of “VIPs” and also the “Many Timers”- I’m one of them. I’ve been coming to BCC for almost 2 months now. After my Encounter, my passion to go through these events increased and going to BCC is already part of my Weekly schedule. But that night was different. Our Network-Eagurlz and the Arios Knights were the sponsors for the YR’s program. It was different because I was not just there to watch but to be watched. We were called “Las Chicas Agilas” and we danced Stacie Orrico’s “I could be the one”. But before the dance, there was one part were someone wil

Tula sa Nangungulila

Missing someone(s) right now. So I'll write right now. English Translation: You might not notice me now, Don't mind my persuasion and affection. Just don't always forget, You are always in my prayers. I will not leave you alone or let you go, Until I finally see the change for you I've longed for. That your old you be gone, And see the life of Christ in you! Today, You are in my prayers, You might know or not, I am longing for you, Until I finally see you again. Face to face and by your side.

“Restless? Be STILL”

See the picture? That’s our University field. It’s so vast for me even I’ve seen it almost my whole life. Growing up inside the campus, growing up seeing all of these for 22 years, I still never get use to these. Peace. Lately, I’ve been struggling with peace. Heart. Mind. Body. Soul. Whenever I see this vastness I would dream again. That God would fill this with so many young people that will worship Him, give their lives to Him. And you know what? It excites me. And scares me. It makes me happy. And makes me nervous. Maybe it’s just really part of my personality. As Kabacan Ministry is taking off- Sunday services and open cells, my list of goals and dreams also increases. It’s not a bad thing- having goals are all important so that you would know if we really are progressing. “But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.” Phil3:16. Since all of these are happening,
