We All Have Two Women inside of us (if you're one) or with us (if you are a Man): the Wife or the Mistress

Whenever I read the book of Proverbs, I always want to be like her. Wisdom is always defined and personified as a woman calling out to the simpleminded and those who lack good judgement to join her in her feast. Can you imagine that? Wisdom is like a banquet host. What she says, the words of wisdom are like a home cooked meal! Partaking wisdom is like eating. Much like in Psalm 34:8 it says, "taste and see". I always liked her. Actually I wanted to be like her. Each chapter that she is described differently but makes me want more to be like her. Persistent and Unashamed In Proverbs 1 she is a Persistent Woman and unashamed. She calls out, cries out even in the public and to the crowds. She persistently calls out to share not just her counsel but even her own heart. I am greatly challenged by this as a pastor and discipler. When, just like Wisdom, you also experienced this lines: “I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you pai...

Bittersweet Life

We just celebrated the church's 6th year anniversary. Today as I am resting and feeling pain and fatigue in my body after yesterday's activities and also the euphoria of emotions of all that happened yesterday, I mulled over God's Word today in: New Living Translation Proverbs 14:10 Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can fully share its joy. If someone would have asked me what I felt yesterday and probably what happened for the past 6 years, this verse best describes it. Something you can't fully equate or put into words. A life meant to be experienced rather than explained. Much like poetry. You don't feel the words really- more of felt and experienced it personally thats why a poem seems beautiful and true. To describe a life of a follower and disciple of Jesus- bittersweet. Bitterness that only your heart could fully know and joys that are beyond words to be expressed and could not be fully shared to others. Just like last Sund...

Reasons and Revelations

Tuesday night. It only means one thing in our household: Family Devotional.  We usually start with a short opening prayer and then we read the Proverbs for the day. Since its the 25th of July, we read Proverbs 25. No matter the different and varying Bible translations of everyone in our house, we read the Proverbs out loud while taking turns.  My mother always reads first and she always reads two verses when its her turn. Why? She reads one for my father's turn. My mom can still read well despite her old age and dimming eyesight. But for my father, its already a blurry one. My mom reads and my father explains and expounds the verse. That's how they always do their devotional. It's always endearing to witness because its how they minister with the Power of One.  Tonight, as we take turns sharing what specific verse hit home and our personal message of the day, it was clear that God's emphasis for us from today's proverbs would be trusting God beyond our need to...

LOVE BUILDS BRIDGES

Proverbs 17:9  Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. The picture is from my prayer wall. I was reading my daily devotional and the verse above written really struck me.  The bible verse reminds me of an idiom-' burn one's bridges': Have you tried that?  I have. But most of the time i'm the one at the other side of the bridge watching others burn bridges. Whether you are in the ministry or not, serving people or not, people will come and go. As a minister, you can pour out your life and give your best and still people will leave.  Oh I can get over every time someone walks off. Its nothing personal no matter how personal my occupation is. What saddens me is not why they left(everyone has reaaons. Its not always bout you), but how they left. I have tried experiencing the usual 'changing of numbers so I won't be able to contact them'.  Or The usual 'avoid me game' and even 'blocking me ...

SECRETS TO FAVOR AND GOOD REPUTATION

Proverbs 3:3-4 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. +FAVOR from Men and God? Keep Loyalty. Be Loyal. And be Kind even if people are not loyal or kind anymore. Its not something we earn. Its something we choose and we give. Good Reputation will just follow. God bless you!
