Mondays: Endings and Beginnings

(Picture not mine, saw this in Pinterest after I searched for keywords 'Monday') Monday. Just hearing the word send tingles to your body and makes your heart ache for the weekend. But no matter how much you stare at your calendar and clock it won't turn back the time (or make it faster either). It is definitely Monday today. Bakit kaya? I really don't know why many hate it but it might involve the words like deadline, work, requirements and so on and so forth. The bliss of the weekend just ended and the dawn of reality is about to begin (that's my take on it!). Pare-pareho halos lahat aang tingin at nararamdaman ng marami lalo na pagdating ng umaga ng Lunes. Parang 'aLones' o balik 'Loones' nanaman daw. hahahaha.. Same with them, I feel ok and at the same time not whenever its the first day of another week. My reasons? Unlike others, I don't have a 'regular work' with a time in and time out. Most of the time I work (Pastoral is...

Live a life Worthy of your Calling

This post is dedicated to my ever loyal and faithful team of 12 of Women and also the Men I was 'co-shepherding' in the Church in Kabacan. For the past few weeks, I've had early mornings and late nights of sleeplessness. It's usually I am in tears, hands shaking and pleading to God on my knees. It was here where I could only find security and peace. In one of my devotionals, God have spoken very clear to me through the words of the Apostle Paul through the 4th chapter and 1st verse of his letter to the Church in Ephesus. It goes like this: 'Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.'  It was one of those verses during your reading that sort of pops up at you and leaves you speechless. And I started to meditate on it; chewing it until I got out the last juices of it. Read almost word for word in the dictionary. What is a Calling? When you hear or read those words, ...

I am who I am because He loved me

Identity. That's one of the many things people get confused with these days. Some base it on their achievements. To name a few: Titles. Last names. People surrounding us. The amount of money on our pay checks. Past. Present and Future. But is that who we really are? When all of this are gone, then who are we? All of the above are temporary things..When all of this fades, do our identities also fade? 'I am who I am' Then I read the words of the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians, chapter 15 verse 10: 'But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favour on me —and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.' Paul before becoming an apostle of Jesus Christ was a murderer, a zealous persecutor. He was also a highly educated man. Yet, when you read the following passages, he speaks of his identity not of what he ha...

The Calling of the one who Loves me

I should have posted something on the day of 'hearts' yet I was travelling most of the time. It was also a time that I spent more with the people I value most- out closecell and spiritual leaders.  My February's are usually memorable not because of reasons many celebrate it with people they are romantically involve with. Sure, I celebrate it with the same reason- LOVE but not what the world speaks of. Love has become highly commercialized this days. Just imagine the amount of roses and chocolates sold last February 14! Oh! I have nothing against roses and a few chocolates (though I am allergic), since I received some myself..But what love stands for this days. It's meaning has downgraded and lost its 'spectacular' effect. So that's what I am sharing now. It was Friday again, the eve of V-day and I was from another 3 hour long travel from Kabacan to Davao city. I was with two of my disciples and we ate a very heavy dinner. We rushed to BCC for the Youth R...
'A Real Man does not make a woman stumble or assume with his words or actions; whether it is the slightest look or smallest smile or gesture. He will never let himself be a stumbling block to her but rather a stepping stone closer to God. He guards not just his heart but above all for the heart of the woman. Because he knew that it should never be taken ever so lightly, but to be won over with the same boldness as Jesus did at the Cross.' ‪#‎ realtalk‬ ‪#‎ datetimethoughts‬ ‪#‎ setapartwomen‬ ‪#‎ uncommonmen‬

Social Media + Strategy + Jesus= Cooking with a recipe

Have you ever tried cooking? Did know what you were doing the whole time or just going with the flow? I guess not. Almost everyone follows a recipe- whether it is written or just something long passed to you and memorized. It makes the cooking easier right? When you are following it, you efficiently use the time for preparation and cooking than just throwing it all in the pot. But what if there was no recipe? The end result might be a disaster or not as good as you expected it to be. Last semester, one of my papers for my Masters degree was about Social Networking sites or Social media in the workplace ( Like or Unlike: The Effects of Social Networking Sites in the Workplace ). Their has been a current influx of the utilization of the internet not just in the workplace but even in the churches. Social media has served as a great platform for any church or company to promote what they could offer and the message of Salvation. However, like in my mini thesis, social media wit...

Creating a Game Plan: Making a Plan is Planning Not to Fail

There's a quote that is a favorite in church leadership and also in business: 'failing to plan is planning to fail'. That speaks truth when it comes with all aspects of our lives- ministry, business, family and even at a personal level. Whether  small or big scale , having a strategic plan is needed. It serves as the church/ self or company’s game plan if it desires to compete successfully in the world. Strategic planning is  synonymous  with strategic management.  The latter is often used in the academia while the former is often used in the business world.  Becoming a pastor of a thriving church have taught lessons of always creating a 'game plan' in order to reach the church's goals, purpose, vision and mission. In the world o ne of the focuses of having a strategic plan is marketing. Convert it to spiritual matters it might be called in different terms; winning the lost, evangelism and so forth.  Am I saying that we must 'market...
