Back to School: Cool and Designer Backpacks

Getting your ‘Nirvana’ on
In the 90’s, the late Kurt Cobain’s band Nirvana didn’t just made grunge rock cool but also designer backpacks. Though the look didn’t stick and wasn’t the most fabulous during that era, its added accent to bags has caught on even until now. Nowadays, not just students are sporting slouchy hanging bags on their backs and shoulders or one shouldered styles- even those who like this classic item.

Their many names: Knapsack, rucksack and packsack
It may have been known for many names but its ergonomic design and purpose never varies. It’s a bag carried on one’s back and secured with two straps (others, only one) that will go over the shoulders. They are commonly used to carry heavy loads instead of holding it with your hands.

What to look for when buying one
This not just a useful item to carry but can be an amazing accessory (just don’t let it clash with your outfit). There are different styles too choose from and varies for its practical uses. Here is what you should look for:

  • Lightweight: For on the go and storing your child or your school books or gym clothes. It could be also a good buddy for travelling light.
  • Personality: every Designer Backpacks has a personality of its own. They are able to show off who you are by its design, colour and size.
  • Durability: look for something that could endure the internal weight of your everyday items and at the same time get through the beating of everyday commute. Example, if you are someone who carries a laptop every day, you should pick one with padded internal structure.
Always Carry Something
Here are 12 ‘something’ that would simplify your choices and narrow down your list.

  1. Bright: Crayola coloured ones that reminiscent of kiddie designs during your elementary days.
  2. Soft: faux leather or sweatshirt fleece material.
  3. Denim: good for hefting bid textbooks for its durability.
  4. Neon: if you are going for a vintage style knapsack.
  5. Multipurpose: there are Designer Backpacks out there that can be turned into 4 bags-from its original design to a sling, shoulder and tote bag.
  6. Shiny: shiny leather can be a waterproof accessory as the water will slide right off it.
  7. Roomy: having lots of pockets makes it very roomy for your items.
  8. Floral: floral designs make a chic accessory that turns any outfit very classy.
  9. Textured: if you carry a laptop or notebook, a knapsack will be big enough to carry it without the extra bulk.
  10. Classic: cream coloured ones have hat feel of a middle school student all grown up.
  11. Rugged: padded inside and shoulder straps will give that sense of a mountaineer even if it’s just a trek to your school or office. But very useful when you are going for a hike over the weekend.
  12. Luxurious: modern leather Designer Backpacks with sleek gold on the shoulders that you would wear more to impress than for its use.

Bring them back to Repentance? IMPOSSIBLE

This message in Hebrews 6:4 to 6, can be a warning to 3 people: Those who ‘turned away from God”; Those who have not ‘turned away from God and; Those who know people who “turned from God”.   It stands as a warning to us.  Have we heard God’s voice and trembled? I don’t mean fear that keeps us from coming to God, but the kind of fear that is spoken in Proverbs as “the foundation of wisdom.” We fondly pray that God would speak to us and hear His voice but do we really know what we are praying? It reminded me of the Israelites who were at the foot of Mount Sinai. When they heard God’s thunderous voice, they did not dare come nearer and asked Moses to speak in their behalf (Deuteronomy 5:23-27). To quote Francis Chan, “When you pick up your Bible, you are actually holding something better than a voice coming out of a cloud on the top of a mountain.” So this warning must really create a Holy fear in us that will keep us from turning away from God. It ...

WANT TO WALK ON WATER? STEP OUT OF YOUR BOAT!

Sometimes I get frustrated in discipleship.  My frustrations might seem directed towards people but its actually the FEARS thats eating them alive. I am angry at that. I really want to send them back to where they belong. I mean the Fear ha? Not the person! But at the same time you feel very helpless to help the person. You can't help someone unless they want the help. In my reverie, I thought of one of my rhemas lately in prayer. It was Peter walking on water in Matthew14:27-31. As I dwell in the Word, I also felt what Peter was going through. Have you ever tried wanting to experience something soooooo amazing it requires something from you really crazy? I dont really know what Peter's intentions were when he decided to step out of the boat and walked on water. It might have sounded like a way for him to prove it was really Jesus walking on water. So he asked Jesus to call him out and Jesus said, "Yes, come." (But as for me in my curre...

“Restless? Be STILL”

See the picture? That’s our University field. It’s so vast for me even I’ve seen it almost my whole life. Growing up inside the campus, growing up seeing all of these for 22 years, I still never get use to these. Masarap mag senti sa mga lugar na ito. Maaliwalas, tahimik at malawak- kasing lawak ng imagination ko. Peace. Lately, I’ve been struggling with peace. Heart. Mind. Body. Soul. Whenever I see this vastness I would dream again. That God would fill this with so many young people that will worship Him, give their lives to Him. And you know what? It excites me. And scares me. It makes me happy. And makes me nervous. Maybe it’s just really part of my personality. As Kabacan Ministry is taking off- Sunday services and open cells, my list of goals and dreams also increases. It’s not a bad thing- having goals are all important so that you would know if we really are progressing. “But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.” Phil3:16. Since all of these are happening,...
