Books: Luke 20, Isaiah 45, Proverbs 3

Message:

A man once planted a vineyard and rented it out. Then he left the country for a long time. 10When it was time to harvest the crop, he sent a servant to ask the renters for his share of the grapes. But they beat up the servant and sent him away without anything. 11So the owner sent another servant. The renters also beat him up. They insulted him terribly and sent him away without a thing. 12The owner sent a third servant. He was also beaten terribly and thrown out of the vineyard.9Jesus told the people this story:

13The owner then said to himself, “What am I going to do? I know what. I’ll send my son, the one I love so much. They will surely respect him!”

14When the renters saw the owner’s son, they said to one another, “Someday he will own the vineyard. Let’s kill him! Then we can have it all for ourselves.” 15So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

Jesus asked, “What do you think the owner of the vineyard will do? 16I’ll tell you what. He will come and kill those renters and let someone else have his vineyard.”

When the people heard this, they said, “This must never happen!”

17But Jesus looked straight at them and said, “Then what do the Scriptures mean when they say, `The stone that the builders tossed aside is now the most important stone of all’?18Anyone who stumbles over this stone will get hurt, and anyone it falls on will be smashed to pieces.”

19The chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses knew that Jesus was talking about them when he was telling this story. They wanted to arrest him right then, but they were afraid of the people.”Luke 20:9-18

Personal Application:

I realized:

- Jesus Christ is the Corner stone. He was tossed aside, seemingly unimportant to unbelievers. But to us Believers, He is the Chief Cornerstone, the Foundation of ALL that we as His disciples are doing right now.

- His suffering, being tossed aside is also an example to us. We too will be tossed aside and suffer, unimportant.

- Jesus is the “Rock” for His disciples and to anyone who believes in them.

- But to those who are unbelievers and disobedient to Him, ‘will stumble over this stone and will get hurt, and anyone it falls on will be smashed into pieces.” The Cornerstone will be hurtful and offensive to those unbelievers and disobedient. To those who are corrected and rebuked.

Promise:

1The LORD said to Cyrus, his chosen one:I have taken hold of your right hand to help you capture nations and remove kings from power. City gates will open for you;not one will stay closed. 2As I lead you, I will level mountains [a] and break the iron bars on bronze gates of cities. 3I will give you treasures hidden in dark and secret places.” Isaiah 45:1-3

23I have made a solemn promise,

one that won’t be broken:

Everyone will bow down

and worship me.

24They will admit that I alone

can bring about justice.

Everyone who is angry with me

will be terribly ashamed

and will turn to me.

25I, the LORD, will give

victory and great honor

to the people of Israel.”

29There were once seven brothers. The first one married, but died without having any children. 30The second one married his brother’s widow, and he also died without having any children.31The same thing happened to the third one. Finally, all seven brothers married that woman and died without having any children. 32At last the woman died. 33When God raises people from death, whose wife will this woman be? All seven brothers had married her.

34Jesus answered:

The people in this world get married. 35But in the future world no one who is worthy to rise from death will either marry36or die. They will be like the angels and will be God’s children, because they have been raised to life.

…38So the Lord isn’t the God of the dead, but of the living. This means that everyone is alive as far as God is concerned.

Luke20:29-36,38

Personal Application:

I claim your promises Lord!!!

- You will lead the way Lord, You will prepare before I go. I am your chosen servant…

- Through His moving and using me, He will proclaim His Glory. People will admit their injustice..Amen!!

- God promises that in the future, if we are worthy to be risen, we will neither be married or die. What a Promise!!Think of not dying? Eternity! No more pain and hardship, no more life’s details and even the thought of marriage for we will finally meet the Bridegroom-Jesus..

- We will also be alive- For Our God is not a God of the Dead but of the Living. Amen!!!

Command:

20Jesus’ enemies kept watching him closely, because they wanted to hand him over to the Roman governor. So they sent some men who pretended to be good. But they were really spies trying to catch Jesus saying something wrong. 21The spies said to him, “Teacher, we know that you teach the truth about what God wants people to do. And you treat everyone with the same respect, no matter who they are. 22Tell us, should we pay taxes to the Emperor or not?”

23Jesus knew that they were trying to trick him. So he told them, 24“Show me a coin.” Then he asked, “Whose picture and name are on it?”

”The Emperor’s,” they answered.

25Then he told them, “Give the Emperor what belongs to him and give God what belongs to God.” Luke 20:20-25

8Tell the heavens

to send down justice

like showers of rain.

Prepare the earth

for my saving power

to sprout

and produce justice

that I, the LORD, create. “Isaiah 45:8

5With all your heart

you must trust the LORD

and not your own judgment.

6Always let him lead you,

and he will clear the road

for you to follow.

7Don’t ever think that you

are wise enough,

but respect the LORD

and stay away from evil.”Proverbs 3:5-7

Personal Application:

- This is His command for me today, I Must Trust Him w/ all my heart. It’s not a suggestion and not even an opinion, it is a direct and compelling instruction and command- MUST.

- Always LET him lead. This time it’s a suggestion of a command, an opportunity with my consent or permission.

- Ever- Don’t ever think, Ever…He is commanding me not to rely on my own understanding, EVER. Forever and always, at any time and or in any way..weeew..

Warning:

5While everyone was listening to Jesus, he said to his disciples:

46Guard against the teachers of the Law of Moses! They love to walk around in long robes, and they like to be greeted in the market. They want the front seats in the meeting places and the best seats at banquets. 47But they cheat widows out of their homes and then pray long prayers just to show off. These teachers will be punished most of all.

9Israel, you have no right to argue with your Creator.

You are merely a clay pot

shaped by a potter.

The clay doesn’t ask,

”Why did you make me this way?

Where are the handles?”

10Children don’t have the right

to demand of their parents,

”What have you done

to make us what we are?”

11I am the LORD, the Creator,

the holy God of Israel.

Do you dare question me

about my own nation

or about what I have done?” Isa. 45:9-11

Personal Application:

- Guard what we see from other believers. Just like our teacher in SOL1 Said; “Follow what I say not what I do”. The pharisees are hypocrites- they don’t do the what they are saying. Be careful in following also your leaders- Wisdom, even though what they are doing does not reflect on what they are saying, our focus and example for the perfect leader is Christ.

- Do not question God. …We have no right to question His will..Lord help me…as I humble down to you. Give me strength to follow your will..and also my family..help me Lord…

Blogging again!

I miss blogging! So after nights of sipping on my coffee and thinking (and also looking at the stack of paper of all my preaching notes) I've decided to blog them. :D Since becoming a pastor 3 years ago, I would prepare for my sermons or preaching every week. It doesn't include the time I would also prepare for my G12 cell group with my core leaders and opencell life groups we conduct. I also have notes for every class I conduct on our Post-encounter, School of Leaders 1 and 2. So yes, if material is the question, no doubt I have plenty of those. Then I also though of what I am passionate about. It was always been this- reading, writing and speaking. It's also a way to keep my leaders updated of all that's happening to the church here in Kabacan; where the Spirit of God is leading us and what are some of the issues that needs to be addressed as it also resonates in the emphasis of each preaching I share. If you happen to read one of my blog posts feel free to co...

Bring them back to Repentance? IMPOSSIBLE

This message in Hebrews 6:4 to 6, can be a warning to 3 people: Those who ‘turned away from God”; Those who have not ‘turned away from God and; Those who know people who “turned from God”.   It stands as a warning to us.  Have we heard God’s voice and trembled? I don’t mean fear that keeps us from coming to God, but the kind of fear that is spoken in Proverbs as “the foundation of wisdom.” We fondly pray that God would speak to us and hear His voice but do we really know what we are praying? It reminded me of the Israelites who were at the foot of Mount Sinai. When they heard God’s thunderous voice, they did not dare come nearer and asked Moses to speak in their behalf (Deuteronomy 5:23-27). To quote Francis Chan, “When you pick up your Bible, you are actually holding something better than a voice coming out of a cloud on the top of a mountain.” So this warning must really create a Holy fear in us that will keep us from turning away from God. It ...

“Restless? Be STILL”

See the picture? That’s our University field. It’s so vast for me even I’ve seen it almost my whole life. Growing up inside the campus, growing up seeing all of these for 22 years, I still never get use to these. Masarap mag senti sa mga lugar na ito. Maaliwalas, tahimik at malawak- kasing lawak ng imagination ko. Peace. Lately, I’ve been struggling with peace. Heart. Mind. Body. Soul. Whenever I see this vastness I would dream again. That God would fill this with so many young people that will worship Him, give their lives to Him. And you know what? It excites me. And scares me. It makes me happy. And makes me nervous. Maybe it’s just really part of my personality. As Kabacan Ministry is taking off- Sunday services and open cells, my list of goals and dreams also increases. It’s not a bad thing- having goals are all important so that you would know if we really are progressing. “But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.” Phil3:16. Since all of these are happening,...
